For ETSU, the equation is simple: the Bucs can clinch at least a share of the regular season title with a win, and they win the title outright with two games to spare if that win is paired with a Wofford loss to Furman in Spartanburg later Saturday evening. The Bucs bounced back with a 78-69 win over Furman on Wednesday in Greenville behind 18 points from
Milton Matthews III and17 from
Brian Taylor II. The duo was a combined 8-for-13 from three, with Matthews tying an NCAA career-high with six made triples.
The Spartans had a four-game winning streak snapped at Western Carolina on Wednesday, allowing 91 points to the Catamounts, the fourth time UNCG has conceded 90 or more points to a conference opponent this season. Justin Neely leads UNCG with 18.2 points per game and 11.7 rebounds per game, the latter figure among the top 10 in the country.
ETSU leads the all-time series 25-21 through 46 prior meetings, having defeated UNCG 86-60 at Freedom Hall on January 10.
Blake Barkley led the Bucs with 24 points that day, and ETSU shot just under 60% from the field to turn a four-point halftime lead into a 26-point rout.
