Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Big Men Thrive in Win at Wofford

Morris, McCullum combine for 39 points; Bucs back in first place outright

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 1, 2026) - After leaving early to beat six to eight inches of snow, ETSU used 6'8" of size across the front line to get back on top of the SoCon.

Cam Morris III and Jordan McCullum led the ETSU men's basketball team to an 86-72 win at Wofford on Sunday night at Richardson Indoor Stadium. Morris led the Bucs with 22 points, seven rebounds, and a career-high five steals, while McCullum scored 17 points, and fellow forward Blake Barkley grinded out 11 points and six boards for the Buccaneers (16-7, 8-2), who reclaimed the top spot in the SoCon outright with the win.

The Terriers (15-8, 7-3) led for just 26 seconds of the first half when a McCullum three pointer started a 6-0 run that put the Bucs up 8-4 at the under-16 timeout. McCullum hit from deep again with 13:40 left in the first half, and Milton Matthews III and Maki Johnson went back-to-back from deep 20 seconds apart to stretch the lead to 19-11. ETSU stretched the lead to as much as 11 points with a Barkley layup to make it 25-14 and back-to-back Morris shots in close to make it 29-18 with 8:17 remaining before the break.

Playing without Kahmare Holmes, Wofford fought back behind Nils Machowski, who scored six quick points to get them back in the game, and they tied it at 39 on a Brendan Rigsbee three with 46 seconds left, but Barkley scored on the final possession of the first half to put ETSU in front at the intermission.

Barkley gave ETSU the lead again with 18:57 remaining after a Cayden Vasko three 18 seconds into the second half put Wofford in front, and the Bucs took the lead for good with Brian Taylor II at the free throw line before Allen Strothers fed McCullum for a dunk to make it 49-46. Strothers hit two free throws, then set up Johnson for a three, Morris for a dunk, and hit a three-pointer himself on the way to tying his career-high for the third time in five games with 11 points.

From there, the Bucs did most of their damage at the free throw line, going 21 of 22 over the last eight minutes to keep Wofford at arm's length. They also put the clamps down on Wofford defensively, holding them to just 4-for-11 from the field in that span, and the Terriers never got closer than two possessions.

In addition to Morris, McCullum, Barkley, and Strothers, Jaylen Smith scored in double figures for the third straight game with ten points. Strothers led the team with five assists, his eighth game with five or more dimes this season. As a team, ETSU shot 48% (27-for-56) from the floor, 40% (6-for-15) from three, and 93% (26-for-28) from the free throw line, the second time this season they've shot better than 90% at the line. They dominated the glass, 35-24, including 19 second-chance points on 11 offensive rebounds, and they scored 19 points off 10 Wofford turnovers while allowing none of six turnovers.

ETSU returns home to face Furman on Wednesday night at Freedom Hall. Tickets are available at ETSUTickets.com or by calling (423)-439-3878.
