ETSU can clinch at least the No. 3 seed in the 2026 SoCon Women's Soccer Championship with a win on Thursday. The Bucs have dropped two of their last four after falling at home to Furman on October 23. Addison Yelton could move into second outright on the career shutouts list with her 16th if the Bucs can hold the Mocs off the board on Thursday.
The Mocs have also lost two of their last four contests with eerily similar results: a loss to Samford, a loss to Furman, and a draw against UNCG in their most recent game last Friday. At 1.94 goals per game, the Mocs have the third best scoring offense in the SoCon and rank 63rd in Division I. Paige Thomas and Quinn Johnson are both among the league's top threats with nine and seven goals, respectively.
The Bucs and Mocs have met 21 times since the launch of women's soccer at both schools in 1997, with Chattanooga holding a 10-6-5 advantage over ETSU. The Bucs are 1-4-3 in the last eight, with their only win coming on September 28, 2023, when Sinoxolo Cesane made a triumphant return from her first-ever South Africa call-up with a 78th minute goal to put the Bucs up to stay in a 1-0 win. \
