Women's Soccer Hosts Furman with First Place at Stake

SoCon contenders clash in crucial late-season contest

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 22, 2026) – The ETSU women's soccer team starts the home stretch with their penultimate home game of 2026 against the Furman Paladins, a matchup with first-place implications. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Summers-Taylor Stadium, and admission is free.

MATCHUP: ETSU (8-4-2, 5-1-1) vs. Furman (10-3-3, 5-0-2)
DATE: Friday, October 23, 2026, 6 p.m.
VENUE: Summers-Taylor Stadium (Johnson City, Tennessee)

LIVE STATS: StatBroadcast

The Bucs can clinch a top four seed and hosting rights in the SoCon tournament quarterfinals with a win and a UNCG loss to Chattanooga earlier on Friday. They have lost just once in the last seven contests and have conceded four goals in that span. Addison Yelton is tied for second with 13 career shutouts and can move within one of career record holder Ashton Blair if she can keep Furman off the board Friday night.

The Paladins are level with Samford on points atop the SoCon and played the Bulldogs to a draw on October 9, but Samford's win over ETSU on October 4 would give the Bulldogs the tiebreaker for the No. 1 seed if the tournament started before Friday's results. Furman boasts the 11th-ranked scoring offense in the country at 2.56 goals per game and have outscored SoCon opponents 21-5 in seven games to date. They boast two of the league's top five goal scorers in Bri Pinasco (8) and Norah Roller (7). Pinasco ranks 53rd in Division I in total goals.

ETSU and Furman have played 21 times, and the Paladins have dominated the series with a 17-2-2 advantage. Furman won the last meeting in Johnson City in 2024, and contests in Greenville in 2023 and 2025 both ended in draws. ETSU's last win came September 21, 2018, when Rachel Harbin picked off a pass from the goalkeeper and buried it in the 41st minute, and Lea Ann Cutshall made nine saves in a 1-0 victory at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
