The Spartans had a four game unbeaten streak snapped at Furman on Thursday with a 2-1 loss where all three goals were scored in the first 39 minutes. Merle Greulich found the net for the fourth time in three games for the Spartans, and the German junior is tied with breakout sophomore Laney Smith for the team lead in goals, while Smith leads the team in assists (3) and points (13). The Spartans will be without starting goalkeeper Blythe Clarke, who was shown a red card for denying a goal scoring opportunity in the 90th minute against the Paladins.
ETSU and UNCG have met in 24 prior matches in women's soccer. The Spartans own a 13-10-1 advantage over the Buccaneers, but ETSU is 10-3-1 against the Spartans since rejoining the SoCon in 2014 and 5-0-1 in the last six games.
