The Bucs take the field again in Lexington after a 2-1 loss to Kentucky on Thursday. Alex Beck brought the Buccaneers level in the 57th minute, but UK star Alexis Tylenda scored a spectacular goal in the 89th to hand the Bucs their first loss of 2025. Five Buccaneers played the full 90 minutes, the first instance in the careers of Ava Duffey, Georgia Shields, McKlain Jones, and Ainsley Parker. Goalkeeper Addison Yelton is the only player to play all 270 minutes for ETSU so far this season. SoCon Offensive Player of the Week Reagan Fitzgerald remains the team's leading goal and point scorer with two and four, respectively.
EKU has won two of its first three, with convincing wins over Toledo and USC Upstate bookending a lopsided loss at Tennessee. Preseason All-ASUN pick Ella Grode, who scored six goals as a freshman in 2024, opened her season with a brace against Toledo on August 14 and added an assist against USC Upstate on August 21. The Colonels are 6-0-1 in games where Grode scores a goal.
This is the fifth meeting between ETSU and EKU in women's soccer. The teams have split the first four meetings, with ETSU winning the 2024 matchup 1-0 in Johnson City thanks to a Grace Eatz goal just before halftime.
