Bucs Add Grad Transfer Milton Matthews

FAMU transfer has hit 100 or more threes in each of last three seasons

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 15, 2025) – ETSU men's basketball added significant scoring punch on Thursday with the signing of Milton Matthews, announced by head coach Brooks Savage.

"Milton is a player that I had recruited here before, so there was a connection there," said Savage. "He can really shoot the ball and is an incredibly hard worker and great teammate. We can't have too much shooting, and Milton brings that in spades but also brings defense, toughness, and playmaking ability on the perimeter for us."

A native of District Heights, Maryland, Matthews comes to ETSU from Florida A&M with one season of eligibility remaining. He averaged 14.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists per game while shooting 41.6% from the field, 37.3% from three, and 81.0% from the free throw line in 28 games with the Rattlers. Matthews made 5 or more threes seven times at FAMU and has done so 22 times in 87 games over the last three seasons at FAMU and NAIA St. Thomas University in Florida.

In 59 games at St. Thomas, Matthews scored 1,101 points, an average of 18.7 per game. He shot 45.4% from the field, 40.4% from three, and 83.7% at the free throw line. He was the Bobcats' leading scorer in each of his two seasons there and led them to the Round of 16 in the NAIA Tournament in 2023.
