Men's Golf Opens SoCon Championship Sunday

ETSU seeks 25th SoCon men’s golf crown at Reynolds Lake Oconee

GREENSBORO, Ga. (Apr. 19, 2025) – A defining moment in the 2024-25 golf season has arrived as the ETSU men's golf team begins play at the 2025 SoCon Championship on Sunday at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia. 
 
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION  
Name: SoCon Men's Golf Championship 
Dates: Sunday, April 20-Tuesday, April 22 
Location: Greensboro, Ga. | The Oconee Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee 
Course Info: Par 72 – 7,231 yards  
Format: 54 holes of stroke play  
Tee Times: Teeing off in pairs beginning at 12:40 pm

THE BUCS  
  • Malik is the hot hand coming into the tournament, having posted back-to-back top ten finishes at the Hootie at Bulls Bay and the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational. Malik has risen 120 spots in the Scoreboard individual rankings since March 26, sitting at #321 in the country entering the tournament. 
  • Bressum is the top golfer in the field in the Scoreboard individual rankings at #103, 11 places ahead of Furman's Harris Barth. 
  • The Bucs are paired with Furman for the first round, with pairings featuring Buccaneers teeing off beginning with Pritchett at 1:35 pm and Bressum in the final pairing of the day at 2:15. 
THE FIELD  
  • Eight schools will participate in the 2025 SoCon Men's Golf Championship. In addition to ETSU, Chattanooga, Furman, Mercer, Samford, UNCG, Western Carolina, and Wofford will compete for top honors. 
  • Half of the field is ranked inside the Scoreboard Top 100: #57 Furman, #75 Chattanooga, #87 UNCG, and #90 ETSU. 
  • ETSU is the four-time reigning champion of the tournament, having won last year with a gallant charge on the back nine to beat Chattanooga by two strokes before going on to the NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, California. The Bucs have won 24 SoCon championships. 
  • Furman's Harris Barth has the lowest scoring average in the field this season at 70.70, followed by ETSU's Kristian Bressum at 71.04.
