DAYTON, Ohio. (Dec. 2, 2025) - ETSU men's basketball saw its five-game winning streak end in Dayton on Tuesday night as the Flyers defeated them 88-71 at UD Arena.
The Buccaneers (6-2) got out to an early lead led by Blake Barkley's seven points in the first 3:16 to put them ahead 11-7, and Brian Taylor II gave them their largest lead with a three at the 14:44 mark. The Flyers (7-2) cut the lead down to one before De'Shayne Montgomery hit six free throws in 55 seconds of game time to give them the lead with 11:02 left in the first half which they carried into the break at 46-38 when Montgomery hit a layup in the final second of the period.
That basket was the start of a 13-0 run that spanned the halftime break and a 22-7 run over 8:38 of game time that put Dayton out of reach at 66-45.
Three Buccaneers scored in double figures, led by a career-high 21 from Barkley who also tied a career-high with six rebounds. Cam Morris III had 19 points and five boards, and Taylor had 16 points, four rebounds, and a team-leading five assists. The Bucs shot 46% from the field on 26-for-56 shooting, 33% from three, and 80% at the free throw line on 15 attempts but turned the ball over 22 times leading to 28 Dayton points, both season-highs.
For the Flyers, Montgomery tied a career-high with 27 points and led the team with seven boards. Dayton shot 54% from the field, 27% from three, and 80% at the line on 35 free throw attempts.
