Volleyball sweeps Western Carolina to set longest conference win streak in program history

Brianna Cantrell notched her 1,000th career kill in the contest

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - East Tennessee State volleyball collected its 12th consecutive conference win on Saturday afternoon, reaching the longest conference win streak in program history.  Also in the contest, Brianna Cantrell reached her first career milestone of 1,000 career kills with her second kill of the match.

NOTABLES
  • Makayla Bays tallied her 19th match of the season with double-digit kills, accumulating 15 at 5.0 per set on a .407 clip.  The sophomore outside hitter tacked on seven digs, 11 flawless receptions, and one ace.
  • Brianna Cantrell, the senior outside hitter, recorded her 1,000th career kill in the contest, tallying nine in the match with nine digs and two block assists.
  • Senior middle blocker Whitley Rammel boasted five blocks across the three sets, averaging 1.67 blocks per set with her five kills.
  • Melanie Morris, the junior libero, saw 22 receptions and tallied nine digs with two aces against the Catamounts.
  • Freshman outside hitter Sophie Davis was the next top blocker for the Bucs, posting four in the contest.
  • Freshman middle blocker Emma MacFerran subbed in to record her first career block solo against the 'Cats.
  • All 18 members of the squad saw action in the match, with the occurrence happening for just the second time this season.
  • The Bucs totaled 47 kills, 42 assists, five aces, 42 digs and 16 total blocks in the contest.

ETSU embarks on their final road week of the regular season, heading to Charleston, S.C. on Friday to face The Citadel at 6 p.m. and to Greenville, S.C. on Saturday to play Furman at 6 p.m.
