Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. - East Tennessee State volleyball defeated the 2024 SoCon Tournament Champions on Friday night on their home court. The Bucs (13-5, 7-0 SoCon) downed the Terriers (9-10, 5-3 SoCon) in three sets (25-23, 26-24, 25-19) to remain undefeated in SoCon play.
NOTABLES
- Bailey Gohlke posted a career-high five aces in the three-set match, besting her previous career-high by two. The freshman setter is the first Buc to reach five aces in a match thus far this season. Gohlke also tacked on 17 assists, tying with junior setter Alex Kreutzmann for the match-high, and rolled out seven digs.
- Senior outside hitter Brianna Cantrell led the offense for the second consecutive match, tallying 12 kills for 4.0 kills/set, tacking on one ace and one assist in the offense.
- Isabelle Iosua, the senior opposite hitter, boasted a season-high hitting percentage of .500 with seven kills on 14 attempts and no errors.
- Whitley Rammel, the senior middle blocker, was a top offensive product in the match, collecting eight kills on a .400 clip.
- Junior libero Melanie Morris was busy in the backrow, seeing 27 receptions in the three sets, and collected 12 digs with one ace against the Terriers.
- Freshman outside hitter Chloe Smith recorded a career-high five kills in the contest, two coming from successful jousts.
- Four members of the squad each collected two total blocks, with redshirt-sophomore middle blocker Gianna Blair and Cantrell tallying two block assists apiece and Bays and Iosua with one block solo and one block assist each.
- The Bucs totaled 45 kills, 40 assists, seven aces, 41 digs and 10 total blocks in the three-set match.
