WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Jan. 12, 2025) – The ETSU men's tennis team faced its toughest test of the young season on Sunday afternoon as it visited No. 4 Wake Forest. The fourth-ranked Demon Deacons knocked off the Bucs by a score of 7-0. With Sunday's setback, the Bucs move to 0-2 on the 2025 campaign.
Wake Forest began Sunday's tilt by securing the doubles point with victories in the No. 1 and 2 doubles positions.
James Sim and
Pedro Cressoni were playing tough in the No. 3 spot as the score was 5-4 Wake Forest when the Demon Deacons clinched the point.
In singles, the Bucs pushed two of the six matchups to a third set.
Martin Garcia-Ripoll and Cressoni won sets by scores of 6-3 and 7-5, respectively. Both players bounced back after dropping the first frame to win the second before ultimately falling in the third.
