GREENSBORO, N.C. (Sept. 21, 2024) – After netting six goals in its Southern Conference opener over The Citadel on Thursday, the ETSU women's soccer team looks to carry the momentum on the road as the Buccaneers take on UNCG Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at UNCG Soccer Stadium.

ABOUT THE BUCS

• ETSU is 2-4-1 overall and 1-0-0 in SoCon play
• The Bucs opened conference play with a bang on Thursday as ETSU routed The Citadel, 6-0, at Summers-Taylor Stadium
• The six goals were the most by a Buccaneer team against a SoCon foe since netting seven in a win over Wofford on Sept. 23, 2018
• Ruby Teixeira and Grace Eatz both scored their second goals of the season, while Megan Burleson registered her first collegiate goal … Natalie Capannelli got the Bucs on the board with a penalty kick in the third minute, while Kyra Ranvek scored her first goal of the year in the 24th minute
• Ashton Blair recorded her 13th career shutout en route to tying the all-time program record with Jasmine Elliott (2013-16)
• Thursday marked the Bucs' first game since Sept. 8 at Duke and first home game since Aug. 25 at Liberty
• ETSU's six non-conference opponents they completed matches with are a combined 32-12-8
• The Bucs were picked third in the SoCon Preseason Coaches Poll, while Blair and Sydney Somogyi both landed a spot on the preseason all-conference team

• The Spartans are coming off a 5-1 win at VMI on Thursday … Forward Merle Greulich had a brace against the Keydets, as the Spartans scored their five goals in the final 72-plus minutes to rally for the win
• UNCG played No. 22 Colorado to a 1-0 loss on Aug. 29, while playing No. 24 Liberty to a scoreless draw on Sept. 15
• The Spartans are led by Ava Kiss as she leads the team in points (6), while being tied for the lead in goals (2) and assists (2)
• Emma Malone has started all nine matches in goal for UNCG as she has allowed 10 goals and made 26 saves
• UNCG was picked to finish seventh in the preseason coaches poll
