ETSU men’s soccer falls at No. 17 North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Sept. 2, 2024) – The ETSU men's soccer team fell to No. 17 North Carolina 6-0 on Monday night at Dorrance Field.
 
The Tar Heels netted two goals in the first half and posted four in the final 45, which included a penalty kick to extend the lead in the 82nd minute. Luke Hille – who scored the first goal of the night in the seventh minute – and Martin Vician recorded braces for North Carolina. Vician scored the last two goals on the night.
 
UNC out-shot the Blue & Gold, 19-8, including an 11-4 mark in the first half.
 
Marc Kouadio and Will Bowers both made three saves for the Bucs. Kouadio played the first 52-plus minutes and Bowers played the final 37:25.
 
Abdi Bahur and Dave Neijenhuis had two shots each for ETSU.
 
With the loss, the Bucs moved to 1-2-1, while UNC improved to 3-0-1.
 
ETSU returns home to host UNCW on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
