SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 12, 2024) – The ETSU baseball team saw an early lead slip away on Sunday as Wofford came away with an 18-14 win over the Bucs in 10 innings in SoCon action. ETSU had plenty of players offensively have good performances on Sunday.
Noah Webb matched a single game program record with six hits in the contest. Webb is the fourth Buc overall to have six hits in a game and the first since Nick Belcher had a six-hit game vs. Radford in 2008.
Cameron Sisneros slugged two more home runs on Sunday bringing his total on the season to 21. His 21 homers rank are tied for the third-most in a single season by a Buc.

Owen Kovacs tossed the final 6.1 innings for the Bucs and allowed 12 runs (six earned) on 12 hits to go with five strikeouts.

Cody Miller got things started with an infield single and
Jackson Green followed with a single of his own. The big hit in the inning came off the bat of Gent as he tripled down the right field line to give the Bucs a 2-0 lead. Webb drove in Gent with a single to stake the Bucs to a 3-0 lead.
The Bucs would add on with three more runs in the second. A leadoff double from
Ashton King got things started and King would score on an RBI single by Iannantone. Sisneros continued to batter Terrier pitching with a two-run home run to make it 6-0 Bucs.
The Buccaneer offense would continue to roll in the third with a RBI single from Jacklin and a pair of RBI doubles from
Jamie Palmese and Iannantone to grow ETSU's lead to 10-0.
With the Bucs up by 10, the Terrier comeback attempt began in the bottom of the third. Wofford scored two in the third and could have potentially scored more if it wasn't for a diving catch by Palmese to end the Terrier scoring threat.
The big turning point, however, occurred in the fourth as the Terriers scored nine times on five hits to pull in front of ETSU. With ETSU suddenly trailing, Wofford added two more runs in the seventh to go up 13-10 on the Bucs.
Running out of outs, Sisneros sparked ETSU with a solo home run to make the score 13-11. Following the homer by Sisneros, the Bucs got singles from
JD Yakubinis and Webb to give them a chance to battle back. Jacklin then arguably had his biggest hit as a Buc with a three-run shot to put the Bucs back on top, 14-13.
In this back-and-forth battle, Wofford would tie the game with a run in the bottom of the eighth. Following a scoreless ninth. ETSU had a scoring chance in the 10
th. The Bucs had the bases loaded but a key double play turned by the Terriers would give them a chance to walk off the Bucs in the bottom of the inning. A pair of singles and a walk gave Wofford a bases loaded chance and Dixon Black came through with a walk-off grand slam to give the win to the Terriers, 18-14.
ETSU will return to action on Tuesday when it hosts Appalachian State. First pitch between the Bucs and Mountaineers is set for 3 p.m. from Thomas Stadium.
