CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 8, 2024) – ETSU junior
Alex Crafton carded eight birdies en route to charging up the leaderboard after firing a 4-under 67 in Monday's second round of the Chattanooga Classic from Council Fire Golf Club.
Crafton, who jumped 38 spots up the board into a tie for 13th, matched her lowest career score with the 67. The Buccaneer junior bagged eight birdies – including a stretch of four straight to begin the day and three straight after making the turn – and is now at 2-over-par 144 through 36 holes.
Grace Chin remains in the top 10 after posting a 1-under 70 and is tied for eighth at even-par 142 for the tournament. After pacing the Bucs on Sunday,
Sophie Bert moved into a tie for 11th at 1-over-par 143. Bert posted a 2-over 73 on Monday.
The field of 88 golfers are chasing Michigan's Monet Chun. Chun posted an impressive 10-under 61 to leap 22 spots up to the top of the individual leaderboard at 7-under-par 135. Chun holds a one-shot lead over South Florida's Melanie Green and a three-stroke advantage over North Florida's One Kashima. Kashima was the 18-hole leader.
ETSU, the day one leader, dropped into fourth place at 8-over-par 576. The Blue & Gold posted a 2-over 286 on Monday; however, Michigan went low at 13-under 271 to earn a share of the team lead at 2-over-par 570. After firing an 8-under 276 in round two, South Florida also moved into a tie with the Wolverines. Western Kentucky sits right ahead of the Bucs in third at 5-over-par 573.
Tuesday's second round will feature a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. with ETSU being grouped with Campbell and North Florida.
