CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 18, 2024) – The top-seeded ETSU women's tennis team opened the 2024 SoCon Women's Tennis Tournament with a 4-0 shutout victory over No. 8 seed UNC Greensboro on Thursday in Chattanooga. With the win, the Bucs improve to 15-7 on the season.
The Bucs claimed the doubles point on Thursday by scores of 6-1 and 6-2.
Fernanda Carvajal and
Daniela Rivera got the Bucs the advantage in the No. 1 position before
Jana Rovira and
Ralitsa Alexandrova clinched the first point for the Bucs, 6-2, in the No. 3 doubles.
Rivera made the score 2-0 Bucs with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph in the No. 3 singles position. Freshman
Alessandra Caceres got ETSU one point away from advancing with a win of her own, 6-2, 6-1, before Carvajal finished off the Spartans with a 6-2, 6-0 win.

ETSU has drawn No. 5 seed Mercer in the semifinal round set to be played on Friday morning. The Bucs shut out the Bears, 7-0, earlier this season in Macon. First serve between the Bucs and Bears is set for Noon.
