CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 18, 2024) – The No. 1 seed ETSU men's tennis team opened the 2024 Southern Conference Men's Tennis Tournament with a 4-0 shutout win over No. 8 seed UNC Greensboro on Thursday afternoon. Thursday's win improves ETSU's overall record to 11-9 on the season.
The Buccaneers clinched the doubles point by winning two of the three matchups. The senior duo of
Dimitri Badra and
Adam Nagoudi gave ETSU the initial edge with a 6-3 win. UNCG won the next match that completed before
Milledge Cossu and
Francisco Lamas finished out the doubles portion of the match with a 7-5 win.
With a 1-0 lead, the Bucs built upon their lead in singles. Lamas rolled in the No. 5 flight winning 6-0, 6-1 and
Lucas Britez quickly followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory of his own. Cossu sent the Bucs to Friday's Semifinals with a 6-1, 6-4 win in the No. 2 singles spot.

The Bucs will continue their tournament run tomorrow afternoon against No. 5 seed Chattanooga. ETSU edged out the Mocs 4-3 in a matchup on April 5. First serve between this matchup between the Bucs and Mocs is set for 3:30 p.m.
