CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (March 30, 2024) – The ETSU softball team was blanked by Chattanooga 10-0 in five innings in Saturday's series finale at Frost Stadium.
The Mocs carried momentum from Friday's doubleheader into today's single game, as Chattanooga plated seven runs in the first inning and never looked back to complete the series sweep. A Buccaneer error in that first inning prolonged the frame and the Mocs plated four unearned runs following that miscue. Chattanooga added a solo run in the second and tacked on its final two runs in the third to secure the run-rule victory.
Brylee Mesusan and
Emily Musco registered the Buccaneer hits as they each posted two on Saturday.
Taylor Suchy (0-9) got the start in the circle and issued seven runs (three earned) on four hits in two-thirds of an inning.
Kendall Thackston and
Cameron Lauretta also pitched for the Blue & Gold. Lauretta held the Mocs to one hit with one strikeout in two innings of work.
Peja Goold (2-1) earned the win for Chattanooga as she tossed four scoreless innings of three-hit ball. Goold struck out four and walked three.
With the setback, ETSU is now 5-22 overall and 0-6 in SoCon play, while Chattanooga improved to 24-8, 6-0.
The Bucs are back on the diamond Tuesday afternoon when ETSU hosts Gardner-Webb in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
