ETSU handles UVA Wise

Milton scores a season-high 26 in win

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 8, 2024) East Tennessee State University women's basketball used a strong fourth quarter to pull away from a feisty UVA Wise squad, 72-42.

Senior guard Braylyn Milton scored a season-high 26 points with three rebounds and two assists. 5th year forward Isabella Hunt grabbed 12 rebounds for her first double-digit rebound game of 2024-25. The Bucs also scored 34 points off 31 Cavalier turnovers.

Milton started off the game strong, with nine of ETSU's 19 first quarter points. ETSU's defense held UVA Wise to just three made field goals in the opening frame.

The Cavaliers had their best showing in the second, turning around to hold the Bucs to just three made shots from the field, two of which came from Milton. At the half, Milton had 15 of the Bucs' 29 points, and ETSU led 29-18.

Milton kept the Bucs afloat in the third, scoring nine to UVA Wise's 12 in the quarter. After the third quarter, Milton had 24 of ETSU's 43 points. In the final frame, the rest of the Buccaneer offense began hitting shots, as Hunt and freshman guard Carmen Richardson sparked a 17-2 run. The Bucs didn't look back, and won 72-42.

Next, ETSU plays its final home game of 2024 at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 against Radford.
