The Bucs enter the game at 6-5 after defeating Radford 68-45 on Friday. 5th year guard
Courtney Moore scored 22 on a highly efficient 8-for-11 from the field and 4-for-5 from 3-point range, both season best marks for the Gainesville, Fla., native. Freshman guard
Carmen Richardson added a career high 13 points and six assists as the Bucs cruised to their third win over a Big South foe this season.
UNC Asheville comes in at 1-9, with no wins over a Division 1 opponent this season. The Bulldogs beat Warren Wilson at home, and are 1-2 in home contests after opening with a road-heavy slate.
The Bulldogs are 0-3 against SoCon opponents, with losses to Mercer, UNC Greensboro and Furman. UNC Asheville is led by Lalmani Simmons, who averages 10.9 points per game, and Abigail Wilson, who averages 10 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
ETSU is 20-4 all-time against UNC Asheville. This game presents a rarity in collegiate athletics: two former head coaches (
Brenda Mock Brown and
Honey Brown) of the opponent return on the opposing bench. It will be Mock Brown's second trip back to Asheville (ETSU won 64-52 in her first year in Johnson City) and third overall against her old team. In last year's 60-51 win for the Bucs in Johnson City, Moore and
Kendall Folley each scored ten.
