Bucs wrap up homestand Wednesday night against Tusculum

Proceeds from single-game ticket sales will be donated to Greene County

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 12, 2024) – The ETSU men's basketball team wraps up its three-game homestand Wednesday night when the Buccaneers host Tusculum inside Freedom Hall. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

·      ETSU has split its first two games to start the 2024-25 season
·      Following a 21-point win over Newberry in the season opener, the Bucs dropped an 82-78 decision to Eastern Kentucky last Friday in the SoCon/ASUN Challenge
·      Four Buccaneers are averaging double figures in scoring with Quimari Peterson leading the way at 19.5 points per game … Peterson is also posting 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game, while also shooting 57 percent from the field (17-30)
·      Jaden Seymour, who is nearing the 1,000-point milestone, is averaging 17.5 points, John Buggs III is posting 12.0 points per contest and Karon Boyd III is nearly averaging a double-double (11.0 points/9.0 rebounds)
·      The Bucs have a plus-11.0 rebound margin through the first two games as ETSU is averaging 45.5 boards per contest … ETSU has also totaled 35 offensive rebounds in two games
·      The Blue & Gold rank 18th nationally in offensive rebounds per game (17.5)
·      Seymour is 42 points away from 1,000 for his career and 53 away from 1,000 for his ETSU career … Seymour has played in 98 games as a Buc where he has totaled 947 points, 562 rebounds, 105 assists and 78 blocks
·      After netting six three-pointers on Friday night, ETSU has now made at least one three-pointer in 1,161 straight games – the third-longest streak in the country
·      ETSU was picked to finish third in the SoCon Preseason Coaches Poll … The Bucs picked up two first-place votes, while reigning champion Samford was pegged number one and Chattanooga was selected second
·      Jaden Seymour and Quimari Peterson landed SoCon preseason honors
·      ETSU received 19 votes in the preseason CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll
·      The Bucs return 10 players from last year's 2023-24 roster
·      ETSU only lost 8% of its scoring and 9% of its minutes played from last year's roster to the transfer portal – the fewest amount of production from any SoCon program 
·      Coach Savage and his staff brought in five new players to complete the 2024-25 roster … The five newcomers include four transfers – Curt Lewis (Missouri), John Buggs III (North Texas), Davion Bradford (Wake Forest) and Roosevelt Wheeler (VCU) … In addition, true freshman Brandon Crawford is the fifth Buccaneer newcomer
 
ABOUT TUSCULUM  
·      Tusculum sits 0-2 on the young season
·      The Pioneers play at North Georgia tonight at 7 p.m.
·      Tusculum has two players averaging in double figures with Malachi Hale averaging a team-best 16.5 points per game and Bryce Jackson posting 15.5 per contest
·      Hale has accounted for seven of Tusculum's 16 made threes
·      As a team, the Pioneers are averaging 66.5 points and allowing 76.0
·      Tusculum was picked to finish fifth in the South Atlantic Conference, while Jackson and Akeem Odusipe were named to the SAC's Players to Watch List
 
SERIES HISTORY
·       Wednesday is the 64th all-time meeting between the two programs with ETSU leading the series, 44-19
·       The teams played last season with ETSU claiming a 105-43 win over the Pioneers … Seven Bucs scored in double figures, while ETSU made 33 field goals and netted 11 three-pointers
·       ETSU has won the last 17 games in the series
·       The first-ever meeting was played in 1921-22 with ETSU winning both games that season – 49-18 in the first game and 27-19 in the second
