ETSU fell in its home opener to Jackson State. Senior guard
Braylyn Milton scored 14 and senior guard
Kendall Folley added 11 in the defeat. Both Milton and Folley are averaging double-digit points per game on the young season.
Gardner-Webb enters the contest at 1-1 after winning its season and home opener against new Division 1 school West Georgia and falling to Elon on the road.
The Runnin' Bulldogs have three players scoring in double-digits early on in the season. Senior guard Ashley Hawkins leads the way at 15.5 per game and is a perfect 5-for-5 on 3-point tries for a GW team that averages 26 attempts from deep.
Sophomore guard Elle Blatchford and graduate forward Elze Motekaityte also average 11.5 and 10.5 points per game, respectively.
The bulk of Gardner-Webb's production comes from its starting five, with the Runnin' Bulldogs utilizing an eight-player rotation in contrast to ETSU, which has ten players averaging double-digit minutes/game and has played 12 in each contest.
The all-time series between ETSU and Gardner-Webb is even at 4-4. The Bucs won the 2023 meeting 60-48 on Dec. 20 in Johnson City.
