ABOUT THE BUCS
  • ETSU picked up a 77-71 win over Mercer last Saturday at Brooks Gym. With that victory over the Bears, the Bucs improved to 13-4 overall and 2-0 in SoCon play.
  • ETSU's 77 points against Mercer is the second most the team has scored in a game this season (79 vs. Charleston Southern) and the fourth time it has scored 70 or more points. The Bucs have seen quite a bit of success when they get their offense clicking. When ETSU scores over 50 points this season it has a record of 12-1 with the lone setback coming in the season opener at Kentucky (74-66).
  • The Buccaneers have the exact same overall record through 17 games as they did last season (13-4). However, ETSU dropped its first three conference games last season compared to the 2-0 mark in 2023-24.
  • This season is the first since 2017-18 that the Bucs have started conference play 2-0. In 2017-18, ETSU reeled off five straight wins to start SoCon play on its way to an 11-3 record.
  • Saturday will mark ETSU's first road game in nearly a month and just its second since the start of December. The Bucs are 3-3 on the road on the season.
  • Nevaeh Brown has played the best for ETSU in road games so far this season. Brown is averaging 13.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game away from Johnson City. In the team's last road game at Clemson, Brown scored a team-high 20 points.
  • Courtney Moore has led the Buccaneers on the scoresheet in the wins over Samford (17 points) and Mercer (16 points). Overall, ETSU has had six different leading scorers this season.
  • Moore is also nearing a career milestone. She needs to make just eight more 3-pointers to reach 150 for her ETSU career. Moore has hit on multiple 3-pointers in nine games this season.
  • Another milestone that was reached on Saturday was Breanne Beatty scoring her 1,000th career point. Beatty, who has now scored 1,004 points in her collegiate career, netted 13 points in ETSU's win over Mercer on Saturday.
  • Entering play this weekend, ETSU leads the SoCon in scoring defense (53.5 PPG). The Buccaneer scoring defense ranks 12th nationally. Including ETSU's 13-4 record, the top 12 teams in the country in scoring defense have a combined record of 155-41 (.791 winning percentage).
  • ETSU and Chattanooga have met 95 times over the years. The 95 games against one opponent are the most in the history of ETSU's program. Chattanooga won all three meetings between these two programs last season and hold a 69-25 advantage overall in the series. ETSU will be aiming for its first win over the Mocs since February 12, 2022, 65-62, and its 10th all-time win in Chattanooga.
