Box Score 2 ETSU will wrap up non-conference play tomorrow vs. Ball State
BOWLING, GREEN, Ky. (Sept. 15, 2023) – The ETSU volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Friday in Kentucky. ETSU dropped a three-set contest to Western Michigan (25-18, 25-18, 25-18) before closing out the day with a loss to Western Kentucky (25-17, 25-18, 25-17) in three frames.
Western Michigan Recap – In ETSU's first match of the day, the Bucs had a trio of players score 10 or more points and the team collected eight total blocks. Despite those performances, Western Michigan came away with the three-set victory (25-18, 25-18, 25-18).
Malgorzata Andersohn (Bydgoszcz, Poland) notched a double-double with 21 assists and 12 digs to go with three solo blocks. Brianna Cantrell (Appleton, Wis.) and Amanda Lowe (Blacksburg, Va.) each had a team-high nine kills. Jenna Forster (Maryville, Tenn.) added eight kills to help the cause and attacked at a .316 clip on 19 attacks.
Western Kentucky Recap – Western Kentucky's offense was clicking in Friday's second match. WKU attacked at a .327 clip and racked up 43 kills in the three-set contest and knocked off the Bucs, 25-17, 25-18, 25-17.
Andersohn picked up another double-double with 22 assists and a team-high 14 digs. Andersohn now has five double-doubles this season. Cantrell paced the offense against the Hilltoppers with 12 kills. Lowe was not far behind with eight kills. Jasmal Cruz (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) paced the ETSU defense with 11 digs on the night.
Next Up – The Bucs will return to action on Saturday. ETSU will face off against Ball State at Noon to close out its non-conference schedule.
