Bucs host Mercer in conference opener on Jan. 3
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 22, 2023) – The ETSU men's basketball team learned its conference schedule on Tuesday as the Southern Conference announced all their league games for the 2023-24 season.
IT STARTS AND ENDS IN JOHNSON CITY
The Bucs will begin and end their conference run at home this season as ETSU opens SoCon play on Wednesday, Jan. 3 against Mercer, while the Blue & Gold take on UNCG in the regular season finale on Saturday, March 2.
ON THE ROAD
After opening up league play at home, the Bucs will play three of their next four on the road, starting with UNCG on Saturday, Jan. 6. Following a midweek home game with Western Carolina on Jan. 10, ETSU will take on reigning SoCon champion Furman on Saturday, Jan. 13 in Greenville, S.C. and then play at Wofford on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
THE CHATTANOOGA SERIES
The first game of the Chattanooga series will be played inside Freedom Hall when the Mocs make the trek to Johnson City on Saturday, Jan. 20. Ironically, the two in-state rivals will then clash in The Roundhouse nearly a month later on Valentine's Day night.
SOCON CHAMPS VISIT FREEDOM HALL
After facing Furman in Greenville, S.C., in mid-January, ETSU will host the reigning SoCon champion on Saturday, Feb. 10. The game will cap off a three-game homestand for the Blue & Gold as it begins with The Citadel on Feb. 3 and Wofford comes to town on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
OTHER SOCON HOME GAMES
The Bucs' other two league home games feature Samford on Saturday, Jan. 27 and VMI on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
REMAINING ROAD GAMES
ETSU's remaining road games include VMI (Jan. 24), Mercer (Jan. 31), Western Carolina (Feb. 17), Samford (Feb. 24) and The Citadel (Feb. 28).
TOURNEY TIME IN ASHEVILLE
The 2024 SoCon Men's Basketball Tournament will once again be held at Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, N.C. The league's automatic bid will be up for grabs March 8-11.
