JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 14, 2023) – As the basketball season is underway, the ETSU Athletic Department is releasing "Getting to Know" videos for the Buccaneer men's and women's basketball teams. 
 
ETSU men's basketball head coach Brooks Savage and women's head coach Brenda Mock Brown sat down one-on-one with their players, so the Buccaneer fans can get to know the Buccaneer student-athletes. 
 
The next men's basketball player interview is junior DJ Hughes. Hughes is a 6'7" forward from Indianapolis. 
 
About Hughes
A 6-foot-7, 230-pound forward, played at Butler from 2021-23 ... Hughes has two years of eligibility remaining with the Buccaneers.

Played in 34 games over two seasons at Butler ... Averaged 1.1 points and 1.6 rebounds in 7.7 minutes per game as freshman, while he posted 1.7 points and 1.9 rebounds in 8.7 minutes this past season as a sophomore.

As a freshman, had six points and six rebounds, while going 3-of-4 from the field in 23 minutes against Oklahoma ... Had back-to-back four-rebound games against DePaul and St. John's also in the 2021-22 campaign, while this season the forward had a six-point, eight-rebound effort in 13 minutes over The Citadel ... Followed up that game with a six-rebound performance against Tennessee, while he had four points and four rebounds at California.

The Bucs are back in action on Friday night when ETSU hosts Tusculum at 7 p.m. inside Freedom Hall.
