JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 30, 2023) – The ETSU women's basketball team fell to Lipscomb on Thursday night at Brooks Gym by a score of 68-45. With Thursday's setback, the Buccaneers move to 4-3 on the season.

Lipscomb jumped out to an early lead on Thursday as it scored the first eight points in the contest. ETSU struggled to get its offense going in the first 10 minutes shooting 2-for-13 from the field. With the Bucs scuffling, the Bisons pushed their lead out to as many as 11 points, which was the final difference after 10 minutes of play, 17-6.
ETSU continued to claw back through the second quarter. After a pair of made free throws by Folley, the Buccaneers trailed by just three points with 3:46 to go in the opening half. However, Lipscomb closed the half out on a 12-3 run to bring its lead back out to double digits, 37-22. Lipscomb finished out the first half shooting 8-for-12 from 3-point range compared to 4-for-12 from inside the arc.
The Buccaneers came out rolling in the second half. ETSU began the third quarter on a 14-3 run and four different Bucs scored during the offensive spark. That run got ETSU back within two points, 40-38, with 2:37 to go in the third quarter. That was as close as ETSU would get though as the Bisons built their lead back out to seven, 48-41, heading to the final quarter.
Lipscomb saved its best for last as it shot 8-for-10 from the field in the final stanza to keep ETSU out of striking distance. The Bison defense also forced three ETSU turnovers down the stretch and held the Bucs off the scoreboard for the last four-plus-minutes. With these factors working together, Lipscomb finished off the 68-45 win over the Bucs.
The Bucs will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to take on Morehead State. Tip-off between the Bucs and Eagles is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
