ABOUT THE BUCS
  • ETSU picked up a 3-1 victory over Western Carolina last Saturday at Brooks Gym. With Saturday's victory, the Buccaneers improved to 3-18 overall and 3-7 in SoCon action.
  • A key in the Bucs' win over WCU was their work at the net as they totaled a season-high 11 total blocks. Abbey Thomas played a big role in the Buccaneer blocking effort as she played a part in eight of those blocks (two solo, six assists).
  • Junior Amanda Lowe had her best performance of the season last Saturday with a career-high 19 kills on 40 attempts. The Blacksburg, Virginia native also finished the match with a .325 hitting percentage.
  • ETSU had multiple players attack at a .300 clip or better in Saturday's win. One of those players was Lundyn Coffman. In conference matches, Coffman ranks seventh in hitting percentage checking in at .287.
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA
  • Chattanooga enters the weekend with the second-most wins by a SoCon team this season with 16. However, the Mocs are 4-6 in league play sitting one game ahead of ETSU and Western Carolina in the conference standings.
  • The Mocs have two of the top offensive players in the conference in the tandem of Morgan Romano and Gylian Finch. Romano ranks second in the SoCon with 349 kills and Finch is fourth with 305 kills. Chattanooga is the only team in the league with more than one player with over 300 kills this fall.
  • Additionally, Romano currently leads all active NCAA volleyball players with 1,931 kills.
  • ETSU holds the edge in the all-time series, 42-35. Chattanooga outlasted the Bucs in four sets earlier this season in Johnson City. ETSU has won four of the last five matches in the series played in Chattanooga.
ABOUT UNC GREENSBORO
  • The Spartans enter this week's action with an overall record of 1-20, including a 0-10 mark in league play. UNCG will look to snap a 13-match losing skid this week.
  • A player to watch for the Spartans is Aylin Baran as she is UNCG's top point scorer with 236.5. Baran's kill total of 226 ranks eighth in the conference.
  • ETSU upended UNCG in four sets in their matchup earlier this season at Brooks Gym. Brianna Cantrell (14 kills), Jenna Forster (10 kills) and Chloe Dupuis (10 kills) all scored in double digits to help fuel the Buccaneer victory.
  • Overall, ETSU is 31-12 against UNCG since the first meeting back in 1993. Since rejoining the SoCon in 2014, ETSU is 15-5 against the Spartans which includes a 5-3 mark in Greensboro.
UP NEXT
