Snyder finishes 11th at Upstate Invitational

Snyder, Howard post top-20 finishes in Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 14, 2023) – The ETSU women's cross country made its final tune up before the conference championship as the Blue & Gold ran in the Upstate Invitational on Saturday at Roger Milliken Research Center in Spartanburg, S.C.

Kiera Snyder led the Buccaneers once again as she placed 11th, while Rebekah Howard finished 20th on the 5K course. For the fourth straight meet, Snyder paced ETSU as she posted a time of 17:37.5, which was 23 seconds faster than her time turned in at the season opener on this course.

Howard, meanwhile, clocked in at 17:51.4, which marked a season best for the Buccaneer redshirt junior. The Ashland, Ky. native posted a time of 18:35 on this course back in September in the season opener.

Coastal Carolina's Molly Jones won the race with a time of 16:53.5.

As a team, ETSU placed ninth in the field of 22 teams as the Bucs beat fellow Southern Conference teams UNCG, Western Carolina and Wofford. Furman won the race with 66 points, while Charleston Southern (139 points) and Radford (149) rounded out the top three teams.

The Bucs now turn their attention to the SoCon Championship which will be held on Friday, Oct. 27 at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville, N.C.
