Neal Posey

Neal Posey joined ETSU's coaching staff in January 2026 as the Bucs' new quarterback coach.

Posey comes to Johnson City after spending the last two seasons as an offensive analyst at UCF (2024) and at Purdue (2025). Prior to those stints, Posey coached at the high school level for over a decade. First, he was an assistant at Trinity Presbyterian School where coached the wide receivers (2013) and quarterbacks (2014). Following his stop at Trinity, Posey coached at Saint James School in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the team's offensive coordinator from 2015 until February 2023. Under his guidance, he coached the school's all-time leader in rushing yards, passing yards, passing touchdowns, single season receiving yards and touchdowns. Posey, who helped Saint James win a State Championship in 2022, was elevated to Head Coach in early 2023. In his lone season, he went 11-3 and won a regional championship. He also finished as a semi-finalist in the state tournament that season.

Before his coaching days, Posey was a quarterback for Huntingdon College (Division III) in Montgomery, Alabama. A 2012 graduate, Posey started 23 games (16-7 record) and threw for 5,665 yards and 49 touchdowns during his college career. He also had a pair of six-touchdown games during his time at Huntingdon.
