Katie Scheck joins East Tennessee State University women’s golf program as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Scheck had a standout collegiate playing career, spending her freshman and sophomore seasons at Penn State before finishing her career at Mercer.
While at Mercer, Scheck had a 73.93 scoring average in the 2024-25 season, which ranked sixth in the Southern Conference. She earned All-SoCon honors in the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons. Scheck was also a four-time SoCon Player of the Week in her final season competing at Mercer. Scheck won the Mercer Invitational at River Forest Golf Club in Forsyth on Nov. 3. She finished the 2025-26 season with four top-10 finishes and also finished in the top 20 in eight of her 10 tournaments played.
Scheck was a two-time All-SoCon selection and a SoCon Golfer of the Week in the 2025-26 season.
As a Nittany Lion, she had a 75.83 scoring average as a freshman. She went 3-0-0 at the B1G Match Play event in 2022 and concluded the tournament with a 3&2 victory to help Penn State knock off Rutgers on the final day.
While at Penn State, she was a member of the Penn State and Big Ten All-Academic Teams.
Scheck also had a standout junior career, winning the Georgia State Championship as a team member and individual three times. She was the Georgia High School Coaches Association Public 1A Player of the Year and the Georgia PGA Junior Girls Player of the Year.
Scheck was the 94th Women's Western Junior Championship Runner-up and had Multiple top-five finishes on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour.
Scheck was the 2026 U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Champion alongside playing partner Morgan Ellison as the pair became the oldest champions in the tournament’s history. The 92 match-play holes played by Ellison and Scheck were the most by a champion. The previous record was 86 holes.
She received her Bachelor's degree in Communications and Master's degree in Organizational Leadership, both from Mercer.
