Chris Welch, MD, views medicine as a calling rooted in service and respect for the body’s natural healing process. Board-certified in family medicine with fellowship training in sports medicine, he focuses on musculoskeletal health, an area he believes has the greatest impact on daily life. Dr. Welch’s experience as a Special Forces advanced tactical practitioner shaped his hands-on, problem-solving approach to care. “Physicians can neither control nor cure the body. All we can do is help it along its natural process,” he says. An ETSU Health clinician, Dr. Welch also serves as a faculty member at ETSU’s Quillen College of Medicine. Originally from Washington state, Dr. Welch values the Appalachian Highlands for its mountains, history, and strong community. He enjoys woodworking, painting, and volunteering through his church and Habitat for Humanity. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
