Andy Fisher was hired as the Associate Director of Athletic Communications at East Tennessee State in September 2023. Fisher joins the Bucs after spending the past three-plus years at UNC Asheville, including the past year as the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications.
 
Fisher originally joined UNC Asheville’s staff in March 2020 as the department’s Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. During his time in that role, Fisher served as the main contact for Bulldog women’s basketball, baseball, volleyball, swimming & diving, cross country, and track & field programs while assisting in the coverage of the rest of the athletic programs. In September 2022, Fisher was promoted to the post of Assistant Athletic Director of Communications where he was the primary contact for the Bulldog men’s basketball team that won the Big South Regular Season and Tournament titles on their way to appearing in the NCAA Tournament. On top of his work with the Bulldogs, Fisher also was the official scorer, stat stringer and pitch clock operator for the Asheville Tourists, the High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, during the 2023 season.

Prior to coming to UNC Asheville, Fisher spent the previous three-and-a-half years as the Director of Sports Information at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C. During his time with Lees-McRae, Fisher spent two of those three years as the main sports information contact for all 21 of the College's intercollegiate athletic programs. In addition to his role with Lees-McRae Athletics, Fisher also served as the Stat Stringer for the Elizabethton Twins during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. 

Fisher went to Lees-McRae from ETSU, where he served as an Athletic Media Relations Intern for a little over a year. During his time at ETSU, Fisher was the main contact for Buccaneer volleyball, softball, indoor track and field, women's triathlon, along with the men's and women's tennis programs. Fisher, who also served secondary contact roles for ETSU's football and men's basketball teams, also gained valuable experience serving as the official scorer for the Johnson City Cardinals, which is the Rookie Affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, during the 2017 season.

Prior to his post at ETSU, Fisher worked at a pair of Division II institutions, Bemidji State University (Minn.) and the University of Minnesota Crookston within their sports information offices. While at BSU, Fisher worked with the volleyball, women's hockey and softball programs, while at UMC he aided in the coverage of all its athletic programs.

Fisher is a 2013 graduate of the University of Minnesota Crookston with a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management.
