2024 Season (RS-Senior) - McRainey garnered Preseason All-American honors from three different outlets before the 2024 season got underway...In his lone season as a Buc, McRainey started all 12 games for ETSU...He finished the season second on the team with 89 tackles (nine for loss) to go with two sacks, one fumble recovery, two quarterback hurries and two pass breakups...His top tackling outing on the season was 12, which he accomplished three times...He started with 12 tackles against Chattanooga and also had a dozen stops against Mercer and Furman...His sacks came against Elon, Samford and Mercer...He ended his collegiate career ranking among the top three among active players in career tackles. 

Prior to ETSU - Transfer from Gardner-Webb...Played in 39 games totaling 329 tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, two interceptions, four forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries...Earned All-American honors by The Bluebloods...William V. Campbell Trophy Nominee...2022 CoSIDA Academic All-America...Posted 100 tackles in 2023, along with eight tackles for loss and one sack ... Had one interception, three quarterback hurries and four pass break-ups...Led the team with 104 tackles in 2022...Led the Big South and ranked 15th nationally with 109 total tackles in 2021...Ranked 20th nationally in solo tackles (5.0 per game) in 2021...Four games with at least 10 tackles in 2021...Played at West Brunswick (N.C.) High under Coach Brett Hickman … Led team to a 10-2 record as a senior…Earned first-team All-Area honors from the Wilmington Star-News in 2019…Named first-team All-Coastal Preps…Also a first-team All-Conference choice…Key part of a revamped defensive unit that allowed just nine points per game and posted five shutouts on the season…Made 95 total tackles, 19.0 tackles for loss and picked off two passes in 2019…Earned second-team All-Area honors in 2018 from the Star-News.
