High School: Played quarterback at Brainerd High School ... as a senior, he threw for 1,339 yards and rushed for 1,038 more ... accounted for 46 passing and 13 rushing touchdowns during his career ... also set the school record with 446 passing yards in a game ... two-time all-state player ... also an All-American athlete in track ... state champion in 300m hurdles ... national champion in the age 15-16 group in the 400 m hurdles.
