Donnie Abraham

ETSU Head Football Coach Will Healy officially recently added ETSU Athletics Hall of Famer Donnie Abraham to his coaching staff as a senior defensive analyst.

Abraham is ETSU’s longest tenured NFL player as he spent nine seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1996-2001) and New York Jets (2002-2004). A third-round pick by Tampa Bay in the 1996 NFL Draft, Abraham was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 1996. He followed that performance by tying for the NFL lead in interceptions in 1999 with seven and he was named a Pro Bowler in 2000.

Following his playing career, Abraham jumped in the coaching ranks at the high school level. Abraham has worked his way up and has spent the last few years as the Defensive Coordinator of the St. Louis Battlehawks in the UFL.

As mentioned earlier, Abraham will be inducted into the ETSU Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday October 10. As a player at ETSU, Abraham led the Bucs and the SoCon in interceptions in both 1993 (seven) and 1995 (five). He was an All-SoCon selection in 1995 and wrapped up his collegiate career second in the conference’s history in interceptions returned for a touchdown (three) and third in the interception return yards (298) and single-season return yards off an interception (189).
