2021 (Junior): As one of the most powerful arms in the Buccaneer bullpen, Chavez made 18 appearances in relief for the Blue and Gold… In 22 innings of work, he recorded four saves, accumulated an 0-3 record and a 4.91 ERA… The junior transfer began the season with three saves in five appearances and didn’t allow a run in his first six innings of work, striking out 11…. After allowing his first run of the season at Tennessee (3/16), he allowed a run or more in four more appearances… Chavez racked up a career-high four strikeouts in his debut vs Northern Kentucky (2/20) and reached that feat two more times… He totaled 40 strikeouts in his 22 innings of relief… Picked up his first career save vs NKU (2/20) and played a role in both of ETSU’s shutouts this season.

Prior to ETSU: Transfer from Eastern Arizona College where he held a 3.38 ERA in 21.1 innings of work in 2019… had 13 strikeouts and a 2-2 record with one save…In the 2020 shortened season, went 1-4, with a 2.64 ERA, 43 K’s, 19 BB in 30 innings on the mound. 

Personal: Born Oct. 4, 1999…from Pinetop, Ariz., Son of Greg and Denys Chavez…Plans to major in kinesiology.
