SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Sept. 28, 2026) – The Southern Conference announced that ETSU's
Ewan Johnson was named the Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. It is the second weekly award that an ETSU player has earned this season (
Mike Jenkins – Sept. 21). For Johnson, it is the third time in his career that he has earned this honor and the first time since November 11, 2024.
Kicker
Ewan Johnson made all 10 kicks (3-for-3 on field goals and 7-for-7 on extra points) that he attempted in ETSU's 58-31 victory over Western Carolina on Saturday. Johnson's three field goals were made from 33, 43, and 49 yards away. Johnson's 49-yard make matched a career-long mark. Johnson also set a new personal best for kickoff attempts (11) and kickoff yardage (692) against the Catamounts, and the Knoxville native totaled four touchbacks. With 16 points on Saturday, Johnson moved into fifth place on ETSU's all-time scoring list.
Johnson and the rest of the Bucs will have another rivalry game awaiting them on Saturday when they welcome Chattanooga to Johnson City. Kickoff for the annual Rail Rivalry is set for 3:30 p.m. from William B. Greene Jr. Stadium.
