Devontae Houston Receives Mini-Camp Invite with the Atlanta Falcons

The All-SoCon running back gets a chance in the NFL

ATLANTA, Ga. (April 26, 2026) – Fresh off one of the most productive seasons ever by an ETSU running back, Devontae Houston received a mini-camp invite with the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

In his final season with the Buccaneers, Houston put together one of the best seasons ever by an ETSU running back. After earning Preseason All-SoCon honors from multiple media outlets, Houston began the season with a bang rushing for 128 yards on just 14 carries (9.1 avg.) and two touchdowns in the season-opening win over Murray State. Following that performance, Houston was named the SoCon's Offensive Player of the Week.

The Roanoke, Alabama native became the seventh ETSU running back to rush for over 1,000 yards (1,008) in a single season joining Quay Holmes, George Searcy, Jacob Saylors, Brandon Walker, Gaven Varner, and Brian Edwards. He scored a team-high 13 touchdowns (12 rushing, one receiving), which is the fifth-most ever in a season by a Buccaneer.

He had five games where he rushed for over 100 yards. His highest rushing total came at Chattanooga on October 18 where he ran for 171 yards on 23 carries. Houston had five games where he scored two touchdowns and was also ETSU's primary kick returner averaging 24.0 yards per return on eight attempts (192 yards on the season).

For his efforts, Houston was named to the All-SoCon First Team by the league's coaches.
