JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 26, 2026) – The No. 68 ETSU men's tennis team will return to action this week with a pair of Southern Conference (SoCon) matches. First, the Bucs will host Wofford at 11:30 a.m. on Friday before heading out on the road to take on No. 70 Samford on Sunday. First serve for Sunday's tilt is set for 2 p.m. eastern time.
Following three losses to begin the season against Tennessee (twice) and Wake Forest, the Buccaneers have reeled off 14 wins in a row. During this stretch, the Bucs have logged four shutouts and knocked off a pair of ranked teams in No. 42 Charlotte and No. 71 FAU. For their play, the Bucs have been nationally ranked for four consecutive weeks and currently sits No. 68 in the rankings.
Wofford is currently 6-8 overall and 1-3 in SoCon play. The Terriers are 1-5 over their last six matches with their last victory coming against UNC Asheville, 5-2. Despite the losing record, the Terriers are above the .500 mark in doubles this spring with a .543 winning percentage (19-16).
Like the Bucs, Samford has also been ranked multiple weeks in a row this season. Currently, the Bulldogs hold an 11-5 record overall and a 3-0 mark in conference action. Samford has won 75 percent of its doubles matches (30-10) and 54.4 percent of its singles matches (49-41) this spring.
Since 2001, the Bucs are 17-0 against the Terriers, including a 7-0 mark in matches played in Johnson City. Since the Bucs returned to the SoCon in 2015, they have not dropped a match to the Bulldogs (15-0).
