DALLAS, Texas - East Tennessee State University men's golf team shot a final round 13-under-par 275 to win the Trinity Forest Invitational on Tuesday at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
East Tennessee State was five strokes off the leading Southern California to begin the day, but overtook the leaders with its 13-under third-round score to finish the tournament at 32-under-par for an 832 54-hole total. This is tied for the sixth-lowest tournament score in program history.
Southern California finished runner-up, two strokes behind the Buccaneers.
Oli Blackadder led the tournament for the Bucs, finishing in fourth place with a 10-under-par tournament score of 206. Blackadder carded five birdies on the day and shot a four-under-par 68 in the final round.
Next on the leaderboard was Veigar Heidarsson with his tie for eighth-place finish. Heidarsson had a tournament low of six-under-par, bogey-free, 66 in the final round to finish the event in a tie for eighth place. He finished the event with a six-under-par 210.
Richard Saunders finished the tournament with a 54-hole total of four-under par 212. Saunders shot an even-par 72 in the final round to finish in a tie for 16th place.
Gavin Tiernan also shot an even-par 72 in the final round. He finished the event with a three-under-par 213 to place in a tie for 21st.
Erik Tjarnberg had a final round of 69, three under par, including an eagle on the par-5 16th hole, to finish the tournament with a two-under-par 214 and a tie for 27th place finish.
Up next, the Bucs will play in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, Oct. 19-21, at Blackthorn Club.
