SPREAD THE SCORING – With
Jason Albritton and
Taharin Sudderth finding the end zone on Saturday, a total of six Buccaneers have scored touchdowns through two games. In addition to Albritton and Sudderth,
Devontae Houston (two),
Khalil Eichelberger (two),
D'Marius Rucker, and
Jeremiah Harrison have all tallied TDs. Only VMI and Western Carolina among SoCon schools match ETSU's six different players with a touchdown entering Week Three.
OFFENSE AT THE TOP OF THE SOCON - Entering Week Three of the season, the Bucs still lead the SoCon in both total offense (394.0 yards per game) and scoring offense (31.0 PPG). ETSU also boasts the top rushing offense in the league (220.5 yards per game). The Bucs join Montana (Big Sky), Delaware State (MEAC), Tennessee Tech (OVC), Georgetown (Patriot) as the only FCS schools to lead their respective conference in all three of those categories.
CADE CLOSING IN ON A MILESTONE – ETSU quarterback
Cade McNamara needs just 66 more passing yards to reach 5,000 yards for his collegiate career. McNamara's top season passing came in 2021 when he threw for 2,576 yards and 15 touchdowns to help lead Michigan to a Big Ten Championship and College Football Playoff berth.
RARE RANKED ROAD WIN – With West Georgia ranked No. 25 in this week's Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll, the Bucs have the opportunity for their first road win against a ranked opponent since April 3, 2021, when it knocked off then-No. 10 VMI, 24-20 (1,625 days ago). ETSU broke a long winless streak against ranked opponents last season with a 24-21 win over No. 22 Western Carolina in November. Before that win over the Catamounts, the Bucs' last win against a ranked opponent was in the 2021 FCS Playoffs against Kennesaw State by a score of 32-31 in overtime.
HOMECOMING TO THE PEACH STATE – Saturday's game vs. West Georgia will serve as a homecoming for several Buccaneers as 24 players are originally from the Peach State. ETSU has more players from Georgia currently on the roster than any other State. Additionally, the 2025 Bucs will look for their first win in the state of Georgia since November 3, 2018, when they square off with UWG.
ABOUT WEST GEORGIA – West Georgia is off to a 2-0 start in its second season at the Division I level in 2025. UWG owns victories over fellow SoCon foe Samford (34-3) and No. 22 Nicholls (34-10) on Saturday. Scoring 34 points in both of their first two games, the Wolves' offense has been mainly powered by their ground game. UWG is averaging 5.4 yards per carry this season with four touchdowns. 27 of the team's 46 first downs this fall have been on rushing plays. UWG has been just as good at stopping the run. Opponents are averaging just 1.7 yards per carry and 45.0 rushing yards per game. Saturday will be the first ever matchup between the Bucs and Wolves.
