Bucs improve to 6-0 in SoCon play with a 4-3 win at Western Carolina

ETSU wins its 19th match in a row against SoCon opponents

CULLOWHEE, N.C. (April 8, 2025) – The ETSU women's tennis team began the final week of the regular season with a 4-3 road victory over Western Carolina on Tuesday. Tuesday's victory, which is ETSU's 19th straight win over a SoCon opponent, boosts the Buccaneers' record to 12-7 overall and 6-0 in league action.
 
The first point of Tuesday's match went to the Catamounts. ETSU did win one of the three doubles contests as Daniela Rivera and Alessandra Caceres earned a 6-3 win over Jade Groen and Chloe Schwarz. Tuesday's win boosts the doubles record of Rivera and Caceres to 13-4 this spring.
 
Moving onto singles, the Bucs were able to rally from the bottom of their lineup card. Ksenija Rage, Ralitsa Alexandrova and Julia Millan all recorded victories before Jana Rovira clinched the match for the Blue and Gold with a 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 win from the No. 3 singles spot. Of the Bucs' 12 victories this spring, seven have come down to the wire and finished with ETSU winning, 4-3.

ETSU will close out the regular season on Saturday when it visits No. 41 Furman. With a win, the Bucs could earn at least a share of its second consecutive SoCon Regular Season Championship. First serve between ETSU and Furman is set for 11 a.m. on Saturday.
