AUGUSTA, Ga. (Apr. 5, 2025) - It was a different course in a different city, but Yannick Malik was the same as he was two weeks ago at Bulls Bay. 

The junior fired a 4-under 68 and a 2-under 70 to sit fifth after the first two rounds of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills. Gavin Tiernan likewise followed up on a strong finish two weeks ago with a pair of 1-under 71 rounds to sit in a tie for ninth with 18 holes left to play. 

Malik was tied for third after the first round thanks to four birdies on the front nine and birdied six different holes on the front nine across his two rounds. He is tied for the lowest scoring average on par-4s in the entire field at 3.75 and is four shots off the lead heading into the final day. 

For Tiernan, the two 71s are tied for his second-lowest round of the season and mark his lowest total score through two rounds in a tournament this season. Kristian Bressum was the top player on the par-3s, scoring a birdie on 16 in both rounds and another on 4 in the first round, but sits tied for 35th at 3-over par. Ben Carberry shot a pair of 3-over 75s to sit 6-over par for the tournament so far, and Joshua Pritchett posted a 73 and an 80 to sit 9-over par. 

The Bucs are in sixth in the team standings at 1-under par. Illinois leads the team standings by one stroke over Oklahoma State. 

The Bucs are paired with North Carolina and Notre Dame for the final round and will tee off on the first hole beginning at 8:50 a.m. on Sunday.
