JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 3, 2025) – The ETSU men's tennis team will open a four-match home stand this week with matches against Samford on Friday and Furman on Sunday. Friday's match against the Bulldogs is set to get underway at 2 p.m., while Sunday's start time is to be determined based upon the weather.
ETSU is coming off a 6-1 win over longtime rival Chattanooga on Saturday. With the victory over the Mocs, the Bucs are now 9-6 on the season and 3-1 in SoCon play. The Blue and Gold will also look to maintain its unbeaten record at home (4-0) this week.
Samford currently sits atop the SoCon standings with an overall record of 15-4 and 5-0 in SoCon action. The Bulldogs have won six consecutive matches entering Friday's clash with the Bucs. As the success as a team would indicate, the Bulldogs have been stellar in both singles and doubles in 2025 winning over 70 percent of their matches in each.
Furman begins the month of April with an overall record of 6-11 and a 2-1 SoCon mark. The Paladins have been led this spring by Walker Allen who has a team-high 10 singles victories. In doubles, Nico Snyder and Nicolas Dispas has been the Paladins' top tandem with a 10-5 record.
Since ETSU returned to the SoCon in 2015, the Bucs have never lost to Samford (14-0). The Bucs have also enjoyed plenty of success against Furman as well with a record of 19-1, including an 8-0 mark in matches played in Johnson City.
