SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 29, 2025) – A championship season is impossible without championship caliber players, and ETSU men's golfers got their due on Tuesday.
Senior
Kristian Bressum was named the SoCon Player of the Year as voted on by the coaches, the league office announced on Tuesday. Bressum and junior
Yannick Malik were both named to the 10-player All-SoCon team, while
Gavin Tiernan was named to the five-player All-Freshman team.
Bressum completed his season with six top ten finishes, including four consecutive top tens from November 4 to March 18. The Dane is the highest ranked SoCon golfer in the Scoreboard men's golf rankings at 102 after finishing tied for fifth at the SoCon Championship last week.
Malik enjoyed an impressive end to his 2024-25 season with three straight top ten finishes, including a runner-up finish at the SoCon Championship. He shot under par in seven of his final nine rounds, including a 4-under 68 on the final day of the SoCon Championship as part of ETSU's massive surge to the tournament crown.
Tiernan grew slowly then all at once for the Bucs in his freshman season, culminating in a breakout performance in the second round of the SoCon Championship with a 5-under 67, one of the lowest single rounds by a Buccaneer this season.
The Bucs are awaiting their postseason landing spot, which will be announced Wednesday with the selection show beginning on the Golf Channel at 1:00 pm.
