GREENSBORO, Ga. (Apr. 22, 2025) - The more things change, the more they stay the same.
With a first-year head coach and an entirely different starting five from their 2024 championship win, the ETSU men's golf team blitzed the field on the final day of the 2025 SoCon Championship with a 14-under 274 to win the tournament outright with a 10-stroke margin over runner-up UNCG at Reynolds Lake Oconee. The Bucs' final round surge marks their lowest score as a team this season, tied for the tenth-lowest relative to par in program history, and their lowest relative to par since a 15-under 265 in the second round of the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional on May 14, 2024.
Yannick Malik finished one shot shy of a playoff for the individual title and shot a 4-under 67 in the third round to finish runner-up at 9-under par.
Kristian Bressum eagled the first hole and followed that up with a birdie at the second en route to a 4-under 68 and a fifth-place finish at 7-under for the tournament.
Gavin Tiernan scuffled on the back nine but still came home in the red with a 1-under 71 and finished seventh with a 6-under par score, his first top ten finish at ETSU.
Joshua Pritchett was 3-under at the turn after an eagle on the par-5 seventh and held steady with a 3-under 69 to finish 10th at 4-under.
Ben Carberry shot a 3-under 69 on the final day and finished the tournament at even par, good for 20th in the field.
The team championship is ETSU's 25th SoCon crown and fifth consecutive, and the Bucs' 30th conference title across its membership in the OVC, SoCon, and ASUN.
The Bucs now await their destination in the NCAA Men's Golf Regionals. The selection show is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, at 1:00pm on The Golf Channel.
