GREENSBORO, Ga. (April 21, 2025) - Gavin Tiernan picked a perfect time to have his breakout moment as a Buccaneer.
The freshman from Ireland shot a 5-under 67, the lowest round of his ETSU career, to lead the Bucs to a tie atop the leaderboard with UNCG at 14-under par through two rounds at the 2025 SoCon Men's Golf Championship.
Tiernan started strong and finished strong on both the front nine and the back nine with birdies on the first, ninth, tenth, 17th and 18th holes. In addition to a season-best for Tiernan, his score in the second round is tied for the fourth lowest by any ETSU golfer this season. He sits in a tie for third at 5-under par after 36 holes.
Yannick Malik, who started the day tied for third, recovered from a triple-bogey on the first hole to shoot a 2-under 70, maintaining his position on the leaderboard at 5-under.
Kristian Bressum shot an even-par 72 to remain in the top ten in seventh place at 3-under. Josh Pritchett sits 15th after a 1-over 73, and
Ben Carberry is 30th after a 3-over 75.
The Bucs will be paired with UNCG again in the final round as they hunt for their 25th SoCon championship on Tuesday. The Bucs will begin teeing off at 8:55am.
