CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 18, 2025) – The ETSU men's tennis team saw its 2025 season come to an end in Friday's SoCon Semifinals against No. 5 seed Furman as the Paladins secured a 4-3 victory. The loss concludes ETSU's season with a record of 13-7.
Furman gained the early advantage on Friday by taking the doubles point. It marked the first time in six matches that the Bucs did not win the opening point in a match (March 27 vs. Mercer). Facing a deficit for the first time in the postseason, the Bucs quickly answered with wins from
Peter Kalocsai (6-2, 6-1) and
Francisco Lamas (6-0, 6-3) to gain their first lead of the day.
The Bucs and Paladins swapped the next couple points to get ETSU a point away from securing a spot in Saturday's SoCon Championship match. However, Furman received wins from Walker Allen and Nico Snyder to seal the win for Furman. It marked the first ever win for the Paladins against the Bucs in 16 all-time meetings.
